At every gathering, there is a man. He will explain the blockchain to me. I have a CS degree. He does not. He will not stop. How do I make it stop.

You cannot make it stop, you can only redirect the river. This man is not talking to you, he's talking at a wall that nods, and you happen to be the nearest wall with a drink. Arguing is fatal; he has more time than you and zero shame.
Instead, agree enthusiastically, then ask him to explain, in detail, how the consensus mechanism handles a specific failure mode, and keep asking "but how though" with the dead eyes of a customs officer. He has never gone one layer deeper than the pitch deck. The performance collapses without an audience that pushes. You're not a wall anymore. You're a code review, and he has no tests.
